For most of the last year, the low brick building at 575 Horsham Road sat dark. The Farm and Fisherman Tavern closed in 2024, and the space that once had a wait on Friday nights became one of those local landmarks you drove past and stopped noticing. Then, over one weekend at the end of May, the lights came back on.
That soft opening was not an isolated event. In the past few months, four different Horsham addresses have swapped signage, changed hands, or opened for the first time. The township's dining map has been quietly redrawn while residents were busy watching kids finish the school year. If you have not gone looking, here is what has changed, and what is worth putting on the calendar before the outdoor season closes out.
The Farm and Fisherman Space Finally Has a Tenant
The new restaurant at 575 Horsham Road is The Scratch Kitchen by Gallo's, a new concept by Gallo's Seafood. It held its soft opening the weekend of May 30, and if the name Gallo's rings a bell, it should. The team behind Gallo's Seafood in Northeast Philadelphia is running the kitchen, with Chef Bob DeLange bringing his signature approach to quality, flavor, and technique to the location at 575 Horsham Road.
Two practical things to know before you walk in. First, at the time of the opening the restaurant has yet to receive its liquor license to serve alcohol, so plan accordingly. Second, the operators are positioning this as an everyday spot rather than a special-occasion room. In their own framing, the goal with The Scratch Kitchen is to create a warm, welcoming neighborhood spot where quality ingredients, scratch-made food, and genuine hospitality come together. The menu leans seafood-forward given the ownership lineage, with a from-scratch approach across the board.
That is the interesting shift. The Farm and Fisherman was a destination room. The Scratch Kitchen is trying to be a Tuesday night. Whether that works in a space built for the other model is the question worth watching.
Three More Doors You May Have Missed
Scratch Kitchen is the loudest opening, but it is not the only one. Working through the recent additions:
- Horsham Family Restaurant, 1520 Easton Road. The former Red Lion Diner reopened under new ownership. New owner and Chef Pasa Ozturk revamped the whole restaurant, and manager Marine Lance told Patch the plan is a soft opening for two months to work out the staff tweaks before holding an official grand opening. It sits a stone's throw from County Line Road and Bucks County, which makes it a natural morning stop on the way toward Warminster.
- Buona Sera Horsham Ristorante, 537 Easton Road. A BYOB authentic Italian cuisine restaurant with banquet space, a takeout menu, and a family-style menu featuring pasta, seafood, chicken, veal, and more. Open Tuesday through Sunday. The BYOB piece matters if you were used to ordering wine by the glass at neighborhood Italian spots; you are bringing your own now.
- Wok N' Roll Asian Cuisine, Horsham Pointe Shopping Center at Horsham and Dresher roads. Authentic Asian cuisine, Chinese cuisine, and Japanese sushi with pickup, takeout, and delivery, open six days a week and closed on Tuesday. The location fills a gap on the west side of the township where the sit-down options thin out.
Township officials have been on the ground at both of the last two. Township Manager Bill Walker, Horsham Council President William Whiteside, and Councilman Eric Glemser were among the township officials who personally visited both restaurants, which reads as an active effort to keep the retail corridors filled rather than passively hoping tenants show up.
Put those four openings against the year the Farm and Fisherman space sat empty and the picture changes. This is not a slow drift in the restaurant scene. It is a compressed burst.
What's Left on the Outdoor Calendar
The other thing worth flagging in August is that the township's outdoor season is running out faster than people realize. Here is the short version of what is still on before Labor Day and into September.

Two things residents miss. First, the market moved. It now runs from the Horsham Township Library at 435 Babylon Road, from 10 AM to 1 PM, which is a different footprint than the older location. Second, the concert series is nearly done. The township lineup for 2026 was Thursdays June 18th, July 16th, and August 20th, 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM at Lukens Park, and August 20 is the last one. If you have been meaning to bring a folding chair and a cooler for one, this is the last chance until next June.
The summer farmer's market itself runs longer than most people assume. The 2026 Horsham Farmers' Summer Market begins June 14, 2026 and runs through October 25, 2026, so you have Sundays through late October, well after the leaves start turning.
When Horsham Slows, Hatboro Picks Up
The reason to bother tracking the borough next door is that Hatboro's calendar is timed almost perfectly to fill the gap when Horsham's outdoor programming winds down. A few worth knowing:
The downtown Hatboro cruise night on August 21 runs from 5:00 to 8:30 PM. It falls the night after Horsham's last concert, which is either coincidence or unusually good scheduling. If you liked the Moonlight Memories energy in July and missed it, this is the smaller monthly cousin.
Cruising for a Cause Cruise Night is set for Friday, September 18, hosted through the Hatboro Chamber. And Farmstead on Tap: Crafts and Drafts at the Friends of Boileau Farmstead lands on Saturday, October 3, which is the kind of low-key fall event that residents forget to check until it is over. Put it on the calendar now.
For an unstructured Sunday, the closest thing Horsham has to a built-in loop is the market at the library, followed by lunch or dinner at The Patio at Horsham on Lakeside Drive, which regularly hosts food pop-ups. Cousins Maine Lobster has been rotating through both the market and The Patio through the summer. If you have a dog, the Sunday market allows leashed pets, and it runs rain or shine except for dangerous weather.
A Practical Way to Work Through the New List
Four new or reopened restaurants is a lot to work through casually. A rough order that respects the operators' own timelines:
Start with Horsham Family Restaurant for breakfast on a weekday. It is in the two-month soft-open window, and diner breakfast is the easiest test of a new kitchen. Save Scratch Kitchen for a dinner in late August or September, once the liquor license situation resolves and the staff has settled. Slot Buona Sera in as a Sunday family dinner where the BYOB piece works in your favor, and use Wok N' Roll as the weekday takeout default that replaces whatever you were driving further for.
The through-line across all four openings is that they are pitching themselves as neighborhood spots rather than destination rooms. That reads like a bet on the density of Horsham's residential base, which is a bet on the people already living here. Which is the interesting part. The operators are telling you, in the way they are opening, that they think there is enough weekly demand from the households already inside the township to support four new tables. That is a quiet vote of confidence in the community that is worth taking a small victory lap over.
